Do You Need Help Shopping for a Large Family? – April 21, 2014

Would you be interested and receiving a full guide with a detailed menu, recipes, and grocery list to accommodate a family of 5-6 (this could work for smaller families as well)?

As many of you know, I have a large family; our home consists of my wonderful husband, our three boys and daughter. With that said, although I love training, all areas of nutrition and so on, I am a mother and wife first. Just as many of you, I set goals for myself and I nourish my body and train accordingly. However, when you have a family, your approach is different from individuals that are single or do not have children in the home. Now there are many resources online via Blogs, FB, IG, training sites, etc. that provide you with every detail you could possibly need on how to meal prep, and eat to reach your goals. I personally think these resources are great, but they are often quite unrealistic for families when you are meal prepping for only one person and you have others to feed.

When you have an idea, knowledge or skill that can help better someone, why keep it to yourself?

My desire is to provide a resource for all you fit moms & dads, for families that desire to focus on wholesome nutrition that’s great for the entire family. Not prepping meals just for those putting in work at the gym, but I am talking about meals that offer a variety and are appealing to your children as well. This is something I’ve been planning and wanting to do for quite some time now, but I knew I had to be able to dedicate the appropriate time needed to be thorough and open with everything I share. What you see in the picture is my grocery haul for this week. This is what will feed my family of six this week, which includes 5 Breakfast, 2 Brunch, 5 Lunches, 7 Snacks, and 7 Dinners, all within a budget of $175-200 for the week. I wanted to keep a realistic budget, so for (6) people my goal is to stay within $175-200. That amount includes absolutely everything and will offer a variety of delicious meals that will be pleasing to everyone. The approach with meal prep that you are accustomed to seeing often consist of similar meal over and over, with children you have to be mindful that although you may be willing to eat this way, it’s simply not fair to them. This is why I focus on variety, but also simplicity. The majority of all the meals I will share can be prepared and completed within 30 minutes. The plan is to provide a shopping list, a detailed menu for the entire week, and the recipes.

Why is this a personal goal for me….because I know how important it is to educate ourselves and those around us. If we joined together, we can teach one another about the importance of nutrition and our health. We can work together to be the world changers to put a stop to childhood obesity, and eliminate the stigmas and idea of difficulty that goes along with eating healthier. We can also teach one another how to create balance and live fulfilling lives..but it takes work. Work from each and every one of us to come together and share this common goal. I am offering myself to you, because I know it’s needed. I know that all it takes is a little bit of knowledge and the nudge in the right direction…let me be that for you?! I don’t claim to have all the answers, I am still learning as I grow each and every day, but when it’s said and done, I promise not to leave a stone unturned. This is my mission, my purpose and my gift to you.
